Various centers are set up around the room, which focus on different skills and

processes, (reading center, fine motor center, art center, math center, language

    activities.

The teacher plans activities according to the development levels of all

the children. The skill required activity may vary depending upon a child's

functional skill. The teacher and para-professionals understand the importance of

being flexible, creative, and maintaining a positive attitude when adapting activities

or timelines when determined appropriate. Music is used frequently to ease in

    transitions from activity to activity.

  • The classroom teachers will use multiple methods to communicate with a parent or

there each day for information/anecdotal notes to be sent home.

  • The Good Beginnings Preschool has been established to reflect a belief that all

children should be entitled to an early childhood preschool education if their

parent(s) or guardian so chooses. Good Beginnings operates under a policy of full

inclusion. This means that children who are developmentally average, children with

mild delays in speech, intellectual or motor skills, and children who more severe

disabilities will be served together in an integrated environment. This model will

enable these children to grow together, learn from each other, and grow in

tolerance, respect and understanding. These things will be achieved as students

participate in an early childhood experience which stimulates children's cognitive,

    language, motor, and social/emotional development.

Children with this program will be at different developmental levels, their participation will be geared to their own needs and stages of development. Each child will be challenged to grow in all areas of development in this inclusive environment. The environment is a safe, warm, friendly, and accepting one, which allows children to build on their own knowledge through a variety of structured and free play activities. Language is a major focus of this program, which is modeled in multiple forms of communication such as verbal, sign language, written, and pictorial systems.

  • Good Beginnings Preschool is operated by the Warsaw Community School
